Trilogy Gentle Face Exfoliant Reviews

Review of Trilogy Gentle Face Exfoliant
By Caroline Scott

Packaging: Trilogy Gentle Face Exfoliant comes in a lovely, earthy-looking cream plastic tube with burgundy writing. It looks smart and efficient - almost a salon style look that promises results without wasting time on fancy tubs and containers. The tube is soft and malleable making the exfoliating cream easy to squeeze out, right down to the last drop. Easy to use, no waste and the tube design results in no contamination of the product.

Application: I find that I never quite know what to expect when using a Face Exfoliant for the first time - there are so many choices these days, from large grains to micro beads, and the first squeeze of a new tube is always a surprise. The Trilogy Gentle Facial Exfoliator is a creamy white paste which is thick enough to keep its shape as it leaves the tube but soft and moist enough to spread easily.
The scent of the product I found a little unusual at first - it smells almost like a herbal medicine - not floral or fruity at all, to my nose. Don't be put off by this though - the utilitarian look and smell have no bearing on the efficacy of the product. You wouldn't wear a cocktail dress and stiletto heels to put up shelves, so why should this lovely cleanser put on airs and graces to do its job, simply but effectively?
The grains in this exfoliator are really small - described on the packaging as "jojoba microspheres". Unlike many exfoliators, as you smooth this one across your face, you can barely feel the exfoliating beads at all. There is no scratching or pulling on the skin - your fingertips register the grains far more than your face does. This really is exactly what it says - a GENTLE face Exfoliant. It also contains honey enzymes to help break down and remove dead skin cells and kaolin clay to absorb dirt and oils. However I wouldn't recommend this for a really thorough scrub of a grubby face -it is more of a "buff and polish” on skin that already has a regimented cleansing regime and it can be used daily to prevent dulling of the skin. The Gentle Face Exfoliant rinses off quickly and easily with water and, although you can certainly feel the effect of the moisturising oils, there is no greasy residue left on the skin. Your face feels clean and prepped, ready for the application of serum and/or moisturiser

Ingredients: Trilogy Products contain all natural ingredients. The main active natural ingredients in the Trilogy Gentle Facial Exfoliant are Purified Spring Water, Kaolin Clay, Sweet Almond Oil, , Jojoba Oil, , Rosehip Seed Oil, Evening Primrose Oil, Camellia Oil, Tocopheryl Acetate, Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract, Honey, Macadamia Nut Oil
Results: Trilogy Gentle Facial Exfoliant certainly does what it promises - it exfoliates softly and evenly causing no irritation whatsoever. Even after rubbing aggressively, my skin showed no signs of redness and wasn't sore in the least. Given that my skin is sensitive and fair, this is quite a remarkable result. It was left feeling soft, moisturised and smooth with a gentle glow and I would certainly recommend this for delicate skin which has been damaged by the cold winter weather.

Pros

Extremely easy to apply and to rinse
Leaves skin smoothed and softened
Doesn't irritate sensitive skin
Moisturises as it cleanses
Wonderful for sensitive, delicate or sore skin
Can be used daily to maintain glow and prevent dull skin

Cons

Doesn't give a really deep down clean of neglected/dirty skin
I wouldn't recommend for oily/greasy skin or for men

John Masters Organics Green Tea and Rose Face Serum Reviews

Review of John Masters Organics Green Tea and Rose Hydrating Face Serum

By Nicky B.

Packaging: John Masters Organics Green Tea and Rose Hydrating Face Serum comes in a glass bottle with a plastic pump in a box.

Application: The Green Tea and Rose Hydrating Face Serum is Light and is an easily absorbed moisturising serum with no greasy residue

Ingredients: John Masters Products contain very high quality ingredients including. This Hydrating Face Serum contains green tea extract (which I’ve read is twenty times more antioxidant-active than vitamin C), oat beta glucan (which stimulates procollagen production and promotes cellular turnover), sea algae (which soothes and nourishes) as well as sunflower oil which is high in omega 6 providing a protective barrier against environmental damage

Results: Instructions on the box say “Apply before bed in place of heavy creams” but this was not enough for my quite dry skin as it still felt tight in the morning. I experimented with using it under my usual night cream – this was wonderful and gave it an added boost! I have sometimes used it as a day cream as its good under makeup as there is no greasy residue

Pros:

Certified organic ingredients

Not tested on animals

The steam-distilled essential oils smell amazing (frankincense is a key note and has a lovely calming effect)

Hypo-allergenic

Natural preservatives used

No hidden nasties e.g. parabens, petro-chemicals

Cons:

Not enough moisture for dry skin at night but fine as a base for makeup in the day

A’kin PureMan Calming After Shave Balm Reviews

Review of A’kin PureMan Calming After Shave Balm

By Kelly B

Packaging: A’kin PureMan Calming After Shave Balm comes in dark brown recyclable sturdy plastic bottle. It is cylindrical so very convenient and ergonomic to hold. It is pump action which further enhances convenience along with protecting the natural product inside from air and germs.

The colour and design look masculine and expensive and the product looks stylish in the bathroom.

Application: I gave A’kin PureMan Calming After Shave Balm to my boyfriend to trial. He has a skin head so he shaves both his head and face daily which means they can sometimes feel a little sensitive – a perfect candidate for this natural calming balm.

The texture of A’kin PureMan Calming After Shave Balm is a very fluid consistency so it is best to rub between the hands then pat onto the areas that have been shaved. A little goes a very long way. Only a very small amount is needed as it spreads so far. Care is needed when dispensing the product as one full pump of the dispenser is too much. It is best to tilt the bottle to a 45 degree angle and depress slowly to control the amount of product dispensed.

This natural balm soaked in immediately and effortlessly with no greasiness whatsoever. The skin looked glowing and perfectly hydrated. My boyfriend said his skin felt moisturized and not at all tight. He felt there was no need for any separate moisturizer. He has never before used an aftershave balm that did not sting his skin but A’kin PureMan Calming After Shave Balm did not sting at all. It was so soothing and gentle and healed any little nicks.

The scent of A’kin PureMan Calming After Shave Balm is a masculine clean fresh musky aftershave smell. I can clearly smell clove oil and undertones of citrus. I loved the smell and could still smell it on my boyfriend on the evening (after a morning application). If you are not one for strong aftershave but want to smell clean fresh and masculine this would be ideal.

I felt it made my boyfriend’s scalp and face look glowing and dewy. Most importantly he said the application was really gentle and his skin felt soothed, smooth and hydrated.

Ingredients: A’kin PureMan Calming After Shave Balm importantly does not contain drying alcohol which is why it is so gentle on the skin and does not sting. This product is 100% natural and chemical preservative free which is really reassuring especially when applying to exposed freshly shaved skin. The second ingredient is Aloe Barbadensis leaf juice which is known to be a powerful moisturizer, anti-inflammatory, soothing, calming, healing and anti-aging. It also contains Panthenol (pro vitamin B5) which is another known skin soother. Squalane (from olives) for further moisture and anti-aging benefits. The powerful anti-oxidant White tea leaf and Panax Ginseng root extract which refreshes, stimulates and energises the skin. Further invigoration is provided by the orange and mandarin peel oils. Whilst ginger root and clove oil, stimulate, warm and enliven the skin, boosting circulation and adding to the healing effect. All ingredients in A’kin PureMan Calming After Shave Balm are 100% plant derived, vegan and cruelty free, the same as with all A’kin Bodycare Products.Due to the gentle soothing ingredients contained in A’kin PureMan Calming After Shave Balm I feel it would be ideal for men with sensitive skin and also young boys who are just starting to shave.

Results: My boyfriend is very pleased with A’kin Calming After Shave Balm he says it is the best after shave balm he has ever used. He is very low maintenance and he loves the fact that he doesn’t need a separate moisturizer. It is just shave, apply and go (very rapid drying, almost immediate). My boyfriend noticed that little nicks seemed to heal very quickly. He didn’t experience any dry skin on his face or scalp whilst using A’kin PureMan Calming After Shave Balm. His skin felt soothed, calmed and perfectly hydrated. I thought it looked really healthy and glowing. It gives such a nice finish, it totally moisturizes but with no grease at all. It looks like no product is present on the skin just hydrated healthy glowing skin. I thought the smell was divine too (and the natural scent lasted hours.)It is about time for a company to make such a soothing aftershave product for men rather than the other harsh stinging post shaving products they have become used to. Full marks to A’kin, I highly recommend their PureMan Calming After Shave Balm, a product with luxuriously soothing ingredients to pamper the male in your life!!

Pros:

Non sting

Healing and calming

Gives skin a dewy glow

Deeply hydrating yet non greasy

No need for additional moisturizer

Fluid texture easy to apply

A little goes a long way

Rapid drying

Makes skin silky soft

Lovely masculine scent( all with natural essential oils)

Scent lasts hours

Doesn’t block pores

Free from parabens and other harmful ingredients

100% plant derived ingredients

No animal testing

Vegan

Cons:

Quite expensive (but as you need so little one bottle would last quite a long time.)

If you are not careful you can pump out too much (you only need a very small amount.)
