Burt's Bees Night Cream Reviews

Review of Burt’s Bees Evening Primrose Overnight Creme
By Joanna E.

Packaging The Burt’s Bees Night Cream comes in an opaque glass jar with quite a narrow top and wide base inside a recyclable box which is itself made from recycled card, .

Application I feel this Burt’s Bees product is suffering with a crisis of identity, as it names itself a ‘creme’ but the high proportion of beeswax (second highest ingredient ) gives it more the consistency of an ointment or a salve, meaning that the Burt’s Bees Night Cream remains on the surface of the skin for far longer than a cream would and isn’t as well absorbed. Burt’s Bees Evening Primrose Overnight cream does have a smooth consistency and is easy to apply on the skin, despite its solidness. I tried using it several times all over my face for its nourishing properties but it felt most peculiar since it wasn’t totally absorbed – like wearing lip salve over your whole face. I also tried using tiny amounts of Burt’s Bees eye cream just under my eyes and also on a small dry patch by my mouth, again putting the creme on overnight, but I’m not sure how much was absorbed into my skin as the areas felt just as oily with the creme the next morning and after a few applications there was no difference to the dry patch. The aroma of this Burts Bees Night Creme is subtle, quite pleasant, like a very expensive candle – probably due to the high beeswax content. I couldn’t detect any of the aromas of rose, lavender or ylang ylang oils.

Ingredients The ingredients are listed on the box of Burts Bees Evening Primrose Night Cream and also on the base of the jar. A quite comprehensive list containing evening primrose and rosehip seed, both very good for the skin since they are rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids. None of the ingredients in Burt’s Bees Night Cream are stated to be organic. The company states that it doesn’t test on animals.

Results After using this Burt’s Bees Cream in various ways I didn’t really get any positive results but equally, there were no negative effects. My skin just stayed the same. It is very useful as a lip salve though. Where I feel this creme would be of benefit, is in protecting the skin in icy conditions as it forms a layer on the skin which could protect against the scouring effects of cold weather. I really wanted to find this Burt’s Bees Night Cream a positive product, as I have used various of the burt’s bees range before and like them, but this just didn’t do anything for me. Others may find it really useful.

Pros Good mixture of ingredients with beneficial properties in this Burt's Bees product, but for me nothing really positive happened when I used this.

Cons I wasn’t keen on the feel of it on my face as it didn’t soak into my skin at all
